Accessibility at Helsingør Municipality Libraries

Helsingør Municipality Libraries are committed to providing equal access for everyone.

At all three libraries

  • Assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome.
  • Accessible toilets are available at all three libraries and on every floor of The Culture Yard.
  • Printers and photocopiers are easily accessible.
  • Borrowing and returning materials is easy and accessible.
  • Computers with wheelchair access are available. At The Culture Yard, a height-adjustable desk is located on the third floor in Fakta.

The Culture Yard

  • The Culture Yard has several accessible parking spaces for Blue Badge holders. Access to all accessible parking spaces is via the vehicle entrance on Ny Kronborgvej.
  • The library’s two accessible parking spaces are located in the inner courtyard of The Culture Yard. Vehicle access is via Ny Kronborgvej and through the alley behind the building.
  • From the courtyard, there are a few steps leading to a revolving door. The speed of all revolving doors at The Culture Yard can be reduced by pressing the button beside the door.
  • Wheelchair users can enter through the door to the right of the revolving door. This door is normally locked. Please ring the small doorbell and a member of staff will come and open it.
  • Two additional accessible parking spaces are located on the north-east side of The Culture Yard, facing Ny Kronborgvej.
  • A lift with wheelchair access serves all floors.
  • In the children’s library, a ramp provides access to “The Cave”.
  • There is sufficient space to move around comfortably throughout the library.

The Sunflower Programme – Making Invisible Disabilities Visible

At Helsingør Municipality Libraries, everyone is welcome. We are committed to providing a friendly, accessible and inclusive experience for all visitors, whether their disabilities are visible or non-visible.

For some people, including those living with conditions such as acquired brain injury, ADHD, anxiety, visual impairment, PTSD, autism, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, visiting the library may require a little extra time, support or understanding.

That is why we are part of the Sunflower Programme. Our staff are trained to recognise the Sunflower symbol and to offer support, patience and assistance when needed.

If you do not already have a Sunflower lanyard, you can collect one free of charge from The Culture Yard, Espergærde Library or Hornbæk Library during staffed opening hours.

There is no need to explain your condition. Simply ask for a lanyard, and we will be happy to provide one — no questions asked.
